d20 Apocalypse - Exit Mundi
The Outside World
Within the sheltered walls of Allegheny, little is known about the outside world. Most of the threats to the settlement come from outside, so it is assumed by the hidebound residents that the lands beyond are tainted and hostile. Despite this, traders come once or twice a year to Allegheny, traveling across the distances with apparently few ill effects. For those with the curiosity to ask, they bring stories of the outside world, although some within the settlement claim these stories are just that, fanciful tales woven to ease trade and lower suspicions.
- To the South, a great river is widening and swallowing the land. It began at the ocean, and the earth has been slowly overcome by the sea for many decades now.
- The land to the West is a place of constant conflict, as large bands of raiders and Savages battle each other for control of key landmarks. Anyone caught in those areas unaffiliated with one side or the other is either press-ganged into service, or killed.
- No one travels in the North. The ice and snow wipe all life from the earth and prevent anything from growing, and the Savages of the land are said to be even more ghastly than those here.
- In the East, there is the ruins of a great city. Once a coastal city, the ruins are now partly underwater. Some traders claim that the End Times started there, and spread out across the world. Others say that there’s nothing to be found there, but death and corruption.
